Two Weeks To Go
In two weeks, Americans will once again to go the polling stations with an opportunity to vote. We should always be proud that we have this opportunity and we should take it seriously. Millions around the world wish they could do as we do.
Think about it for a moment. When Americans go to the polls, we don’t have to walk by tanks or armed soldiers. Yes, there is the occasional controversy (remember the “hanging chads”?), but, when an election is decided, no one goes to jail or threatens violence. It is one of the things that makes this country great. The peaceful transfer–or keeping of–power is a beautiful thing to consider.
How should a Christian vote? Tragically, many Christians believe that “their party” is the only one. This one says that you can’t be a Christian and vote for a Democrat; that one says that anyone who would vote for a Republican must be wrong.
How sad!
Christians in America have a unique opportunity to go to the ballot box and vote for those who will stand up for God–no matter which party (if any) that candidate is affiliated with. Christians should do their very best to vote for candidates who will stand up against the murder of the unborn, homosexuality and the increasing force of evolution in schools. While we should be concerned about what a person thinks about Iraq or the national debt, moral issues should far outweigh these domestic ones in the mind of the Christian voter.
Take the time to look at the moral beliefs of the candidates. Don’t vote for a party. Vote for the man or woman who will help Christians and morality. It is a privilege that no Christian should play around with.
