Your Help Needed for a New Series
Two Thursdays ago, I posted an article on some general reflections on the hymn “Where No One Stands Alone.”
That brief post received a lot of positive feedback, and led me to think that it might make a good series to continue. I want to take Thursdays for the next few weeks and do more “reflections on hymns.”
However, I don’t just want to do my favorites. I like all sorts of songs, from older “standards” to many newer songs of praise, but I want to know which ones YOU like.
In the comments, or via email or Twitter, please leave me a list of no more than three songs you would like me to “reflect” on. I’ll start these, Lord willing, next Thursday.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for your help!

I’ve considered a series on some of the hymns we sing. I thought about it after viewing the following site: http://www.powerpointsermons.com/?page=search&keyword_id=353 Maybe you can find some ideas as well.

Two newer songs that have become some of my favorites are “Ancient Words” and ESPECIALLY “How Deep the Father’s Love For Us”

I second Daniel’s nomination of “How Deep is Our Father’s Love” & would add “In Christ Alone.” My favorite overall is “Be Thou My Vision.”

“Where No One Stands Alone” always gives me goosebumps! Among the devotional hymns, “The Battle Belongs To The Lord,” is becoming one of my favorites. My wife Kelly’s favorite hymn is “There’s A Rainbow in the Cloud.”

I also like “Have You Seen Jesus My Lord?”

You and I share a favorite in “Nearer Still Nearer,” but I would like to see a comment or two about “Where Could I Go?” Especially in view of Paul saying God is the God of all comfort 2 Cor 1:3.

WOW! What a response! Two notes:
1. Keep the suggestions coming. We want to do this for any/every song suggested.
2. Due to the number of suggestions, please know that it may take a LONG time to get to yours, but we are excited by the response.
Keep your lists coming…….

I’ve always loved “Listen To Our Hearts.” It captures the absurdity of worship–the unlikely prospect of giving voice to ineffable truths about an infinite God. It also challenges me to have a heart that’s worth listening to.
Reminds me of Lamar Boschman’s statement: “When I worship, I would rather my heart be without words than my words be without heart.”
