“8 Days with the Preacher” : Day 7, Saturday February 25
This will be the shortest post in this 8 day series, because today (thankfully) was fairly mild.
We slept in (which means we slept until about 7AM), and I stayed in bed a few minutes to pray. After getting up, the kids watched some TV and Leah made our Saturday traditional breakfast of pancakes. Her pancakes are amazing, and we enjoyed a great start to the day.
After breakfast, the kids watched a little more TV and I got ready for the day. At 10, we left the house and headed to the Gospel Advocate Bookstore, where I bought a book for some friends and we bought a gift for someone else. While there, though, we learned that a little boy from our congregation had been taken to the doctor. Ironically, we were on our way to his 1st birthday party, but he was quite sick. After some texts back and forth, we learned that he has the flu, but the parents were relieved, because there were some indications that it could have been something worse.
We stopped by the building on the way home, and I ran off some handouts for one of our adult Bible class teachers, then we headed home for lunch.
After lunch, we relaxed. I enjoyed an afternoon of reading (an entire book!…okay, it was a short book, but still), listening to some podcasts, and watching college basketball. Leah hasn’t felt too great today, so we all took it easy. Thankfully, she’s feeling better this evening.
We enjoyed a good supper, and I came upstairs to study. I am taking a break from studying both my morning sermon and Bible class to write this post. My goal for the rest of the evening is to study a little more, and to keep up with the world of college basketball.
All in all, today was fairly slow, but it was a relief to have such a day.

By the way, the podcasts I either finished or listened to today where: iQuest, Ashville Road church of Christ (Drew Kizer), the last Page 2 Podcast from ESPN, Old Time Rock ‘n’ Roll, West Huntsville church of Christ (Glenn Colley), and two episodes of FamilyLife Today. The book that I read was Where’s the Piano by Dan Chambers.
