3 Book Reviews
It’s time for another set of book reviews for your interest. Following are the last three books I’ve read, in the order I finished reading them. ————————– The 100 Michael H. Hart Citadel Press, 1992 [reprinted in 1996] This is a book I’ve read three of four times before, but not in quite some time. I used this book for my biography for April. The book, originally published in the late 1970s is Hart’s ranking of “the most influential persons in history.” It you like countdowns, this is a great book to read. Hart is a scientist, and that comes across not only in the number of scientists on the…

Lebanon Road Report and Romans Notes
Below is the Lebanon Road Report for this weekend. There is a new feature for our readers from Lebanon Road (or others nearby that would like to know our events). It is a brief calendar of the week’s events, and is found in the lower right-hand corner. Publish at Scribd or explore others: Magazines & Newspape bible mothers Also, as I mentioned in last week’s Friday Links Roundup, my friend Steven Hunter and I are listening to all 218 sermons on Romans from John Piper. We have listened to lessons 1 and 2 and have posted our notes. I will not put the notes on this blog, but will simply…

Friday Links Roundup: Three-Part Post Edition
Today’s post is a bit lengthy, but I hope you enjoy all three parts! Part I: Fun Stuff: Twitter and a Video I’m glad that iPreach has changed introductions and I’m no longer introduced as “Number one Twitterer among ministers of churches of Christ in Nashville.” By the way, that means I’m “#1” among about 3 people. However, I have grown to really like Twitter. I leave TweekDeck open quite often on my desktop, and I check Twitterfon on my iPhone quite often to see trends, keep up with friends, and enjoy links and quotes. When used properly, it is a tool and not a toy (although it can be…

A Tribute
With this week leading up to Mother’s Day, there are all types of tributes to mothers on blogs and websites. My mom is getting to travel to the Grand Canyon (she should get to see it today) with dad and will be gone through next week. I’m thankful she (and he) is getting a well-deserved vacation. However, many ladies go unnoticed on Mother’s Day. So, for you ladies… 1. Here’s a tribute to young ladies who are growing in faith to the Lord. Young ladies in our world are rare. There are plenty of girls, but few ladies. I’m so proud of young ladies who serve and put God first,…

Q4Y: Prayer Lists
Since our first “Q4Y” (Question for You) post garnered such amazing response (3 comments!), I thought I’d ask a practical question in this one. Leah and I both talk often about how we need to do better in our prayer life. Personally, I’ve observed that nearly every Christian says the same thing. When we are faithful to God, we desire to speak to Him and pray more deeply and fervently to Him. I often try to make prayer lists, but I’m not good at keeping up with them. We pray for a lot of people, events, and other things, but we’re not good at having an organized way of keeping…

Mount Vernon Fun Times 2
Our trip included fun times in the park on Saturday with Grampy. Then, in Mount Vernon, we went to the park and to a great art museum. The museum featured a children’s activities center (free!) that the kids loved. Finally, we went to an outdoor sculpture garden. These were great times, and we’re glad we got to enjoy some fun times as a family.

Friday Links Roundup: April Showers Bring… Edition
As we drove home yesterday from a good meeting in Mount Vernon, Illinois, Leah became more and more excited. She knew it was about time for her irises to be blooming in the back yard. While our weather has been a bit strange over the past few weeks, Leah was right. The flowers are up and looking great! We had a good trip to Murray and Mount Vernon. I have a few pictures I’ll be posting on here later of some of the activities. [For those who get the email updates, I won’t be sending one out for those posts, but they should be up later today and/or tomorrow.] On…
