A Quick HomeSchool Update, and A Little Blog News
HOMESCHOOL: I am planning on putting up some posts about homeschooling on Mondays from time-to-time (replacing book reviews). For this update, let me share with you how we handled our first week off. That’s right, we’ve already taken a week off! We started school early (August 1) to account for the week we spent at Polishing the Pulpit. So, we had 9 days of school before leaving on the trip. Homeschool week #3: Some of Our Preparation Steps
This is the 3rd and final post in our homeschool series (though we’ll post about it more in the future, I’m sure). If you missed anything, here is Monday’s post, where we shared pictures of day 1 of school, and here is Tuesday’s post, where we shared a tour of our room and the choices we made in curriculum. Following that, we’ll give you a quick list of the curriculum we’re using for the first year of school. We have been shopping for months, so we got some decent deals on exactly the items we wanted. That is the key: spend time shopping! A Tour Of The Room The major piece (both in size and in money) was, of course, the table and chairs. We looked in person at several, then did some comparison shopping online. We settled on a table…

Homeschool Week #1: Pictures of the Students and Teacher
Today, Mary Carol started Kindergarten…at our house, and Turner is doing preschool work, also at home. We made the decision quite some time ago to homeschool our children. This week, we have 3 posts for you about this major move in our family’s life. Today’s post is simply some pictures of the first day getting underway. On Tuesday, we’ll give you a little tour of our school room, and some links to the furniture and materials we are using. Finally, on Wednesday, we’ll share with you some of the things we did (both in decision-making and in practical steps) to get ready for this first week. So, here are some…
