Hilarious!
If you don’t have a favorite football referee, you are about to. Just listen to the description of a penalty called in the Maryland – N.C. State game on Saturday. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Ron Cherry:

Two Trips to Kentucky
Late this Summer, I was scheduled to speak at a youth event in Kentucky. It was an honor to be asked, and I gladly agreed. Since the congregation where I would be speaking was only about 30 minutes from where my parents live, I asked my elders if my family could take a few days vacation “around” the speaking engagement. They kindly agreed. On that trip, though, I ended up with another work to be done. A man from Paducah lost his wife in a horrible automobile accident. It was, in every sense of the word, a tragedy. The congregation and the family were both rocked by the experience. Since…

Thanks for…
Sunday night, I delivered a brief devotional lesson for our elementary young people. Since it is November, and since Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, I gave a lesson about things we can be thankful for. In case you need help getting your list started today, here are the things we discussed. Truth. We spent a few minutes talking about the Bible here. We should be thankful that God loved us enough to give us a book that is filled with truth, and that, as a whole, is truth (John 17:17). Happiness. We used this word to talk about relationships that make us happy, and about making sure we thank those…

Friday Links Roundup: Two Weeks Worth Edition
We missed last Friday with the links roundup. I was leading singing in Kentucky on Friday night, and we visited my family during the day, so I just didn’t get it done. We are looking forward to being back up in Kentucky this next week for Thanksgiving. It is, by far, my favorite holiday, and I’m glad that my family gets along and has holidays together. To make up for the “absent” week, here are a few articles for your weekend: 1. Dean Kelly, at Kelly’s Korner, posted an essay written by an English I student. The essay “From My Perspective” is excellent. Many of you will want to file…

Using and Supporting Faughnblog
Since I will not have a regular bulletin article for the next couple of weeks, I thought I’d take this time to do a little introducing…or re-introducing to our blog. Our blog is dedicated to New Testament Christianity. We don’t have all the answers…but God DOES! Our job is just to find them in His Word, being honest and open with our study. I hope you find the articles and other features to be helpful, but, more importantly, Biblical. If you are new to the site, or if you just want a little refresher course on how to “get going,” I hope this short article helps. 1. We have an…

Growing in Knowledge
I am continually amazed as people who are highly intelligent. When I watch shows like Jeopardy!, I am floored by how much these people know. As one who works with young people, I want to see our young people grow in the most important knowledge they can ever have: a knowledge of the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible is filled with amazing stories, laws, people and many other things that help us on a daily basis. That is one reason why I am so adamant about Bible school. The time young people (and adults) spend in the Bible classroom is vital. We only have them for about 90…

Not Just a Hearer (Bulletin Article for November 11)
Many of our religious friends teach that there is nothing one can do in order to go to heaven. God has already chosen, they teach, those who will be saved and those who will be lost, and there is nothing we can do to change that. The book of James teaches that there are things we must do. Some religious leaders, both past and present, have basically discounted the book of James. Why? Because it teaches that there is something I need to do to be saved. Martin Luther said that the Epistle of James was an “epistle of straw,” because the Greek language used in the book was not…
