"Political Correctness Gone Mad"
St. Andrew’s University of Scotland recently passed a decision to recognize Wicca as a “religion” on her campus. Those who are members of this movement will be granted rights just like any religious group. Following is the brief story from the University Newsroom at totalcatholic.com: The Catholic chaplain of St Andrew’s University in Scotland has defended theinstitution’s decision to officially recognise Wiccans. St Andrews University, whose graduates include Prince William, has decided to allocate an area for followers of the alternative religion to hold festivals and rituals after university bosses feared they could be prosecuted under human rights legislation. Now pagan or wiccans as they prefer to be called, will…

Dateline NBC Update
A few weeks ago, we posted an article about the NBC Dateline series entitled “To Catch a Predator.” In case you missed that article, you may click here to read it. Now Dateline has run a month-long series of shows on the subject of online predators. They have even gone so far as to air a show telling what has happened to some of the men caught in their raids in different cities. Keep in mind that these stories were not just done in large cities. Many people seem to think that these situations only occur in New York and Los Angeles. That is simply not the case. These men…

Songs 89-83
Last night, the 9th Avenue church of Christ continued singing the “Top 99” songs, as voted on by members of the congregation. We were able to sing numbers 89-83. Those songs were: #89–Never Grow Old #88–Abide with Me #87–What a Lovely Name #86–Heaven Holds All to Me #85–Mansion Over the Hilltop #84–I Am a Poor Wayfaring Stranger #83–This World is Not My Home If you wish to listen to these, or any of the songs sung so far, you may visit this direct link. We again want to thank Neal Cook for putting these songs on our website, and we also want to thank everyone who is coming to sing.

Another Amazing Leap for Evolutionists
Scientists who continue to hold to the teetering theory of evolution never cease to amaze me. The lengths to which they will go to “prove” their theory is utterly incredible. It continues with a new “amazing” discovery that helps “bridge the gap” between aquatic life in the ancient past and modern birds. Evolutionists have contended for years that most species of birds descended from aquatic life some time in the distant past. Now a new discovery is leading evolutionists to think that all bird species alive today (over 10,000) came from water life. Voice of America begins their report this way: All birds, even ones that perch in trees, may…

Reading Tips
Doing some research for a writing project, I came across the April 1996 issue of Gospel Advocate. On pages 36-37, Dennis Loyd (then the associate editor) wrote an article about the importance of reading. If you have a copy of the issue, I would encourage you to pull it out and read that article again. I like to read. I’m not a big “novel” reader, but I love to read for information about the Bible. I am always trying to find time to read more of and about God’s Word. On this blog, you will often read reviews of books that I have finished, and on your right-hand side is…

You will need Windows Media Player to listen to the songs (and all audio files on the site). To listen to songs 99-90, click here. Enjoy listening, and please visit our website often. We are proud of it, and the work brother Cook does on it.

A Bunch of 'Net Stuff
Today I just wanted to share several things from the internet with you that may be of some interest. First, in case you haven’t heard, Christian Courier has acknowledged the reason for their delay in posting articles. They are doing some work on their technology and it is taking longer than expected. To read their explanation, click here. Also, if you haven’t heard of MySpace.com by now, you are getting ready to. A young lady from Michigan recently met a man from the Middle East on the website and flew to meet him. The young lady was just 16 years old. To read the Fox News release, you may click…

The Blame Game: From Adam and Eve to Britney Spears
Since the first sin, man has searched for an excuse. You’ll recall that Eve blamed the serpent and Adam blamed the woman…and God! When people make a mistake, whether it is a sin or not, they simply do not want to take responsibility for their actions. The latest in the blame game is Mrs. Kevin Federline…Britney Spears. You might recall the incident a few months ago where she was seen driving around with her little 8-month old child on her lap. While I was shocked, it is a mistake that has been made before. Why not just own up to it? Nope. Britney took the same approach that Adam and…

The 9th Avenue 99 Begins
Last night, over 100 members of the 9th Avenue church of Christ began singing our favorite songs. Almost 300 songs were submitted on many ballots, and we ranked the top 99 based on those ballots. Each week, I will release the names of the songs sung the night before. So, here are the first 10 songs: #99–We Will Glorify #98–How Shall the Young Secure Their Hearts #97–Purer in Heart, O God #96–There Is a Balm in Gilead #95–Won’t It Be Wonderful There? #94–A Common Love #93–How Beautiful #92–If Jesus Goes with Me #91–You Are My All in All #90–The Beautiful Garden of Prayer As you can see, there is a…

Two Items
Having returned from Maywood Christian Camp, I wanted to give one reminder and ask a question that I need some help with. 1. Don’t forget about 9th Avenue’s favorite song list. The list has been compiled and we are going to begin singing them tomorrow night. Lord willing, I will post the songs on here on Monday morning that were sung on Sunday night so you can keep up with the countdown. Trust me, there are a few surprises. 2. Has anyone else noticed that there hasn’t been anything new published on Christian Courier’s website in a long time? The feature article (which shows the newest article published) has not…
