A Video of Beech Island
Enjoy a 1:50 video of some of the great things that happened in Beech Island last week. This video is in honor and memory of Glenn Nichols, the preacher at Beech Island who was killed in a car accident earlier this year. See the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21zOSLkVpbc

Friday Links Roundup: LRYG is Famous Edition
We have a group of folks away this week. They are working in Beech Island, South Carolina, on a mission trip. We support the congregation there and our folks have been doing all sorts of community projects. They will also be conducting a Vacation Bible School tomorrow. Their work has gained some local attention from the media, and they are probably going to return with sunglasses and bodyguards from all their coverage! Two local TV stations have run stories this week about the work. Here is the ABC story (which focuses more on a parallel project) and here is the NBC story (which features nearly our whole group). I’ll be…

Latest Book Reviews
Since our last book review, I’ve been doing quite a bit of reading. While I always slow down a bit in the summer, there are still four books to pass along my thoughts on. —————————— Jesus Christ: Eternal Sacrifice Betty Burton Choate J.C. Choate Publications, 2000 Our young adult class was recently going through this book, and Leah is a part of that class. She liked what she had read and I decided to read it, too. Choate’s work is motivational, in that she uses scores of Bible verses to share her line of reasoning. In The Eternal Sacrifice, sister Choate tries to show that Christ was not 100% God…

Our New Blog!
We are glad to be on our new site. We hope you will check back often for spiritual updates as well as pictures of our family. If you’re new to our family, I preach in Nashville at the Lebanon Road church of Christ. Leah is a homemaker and the greatest mother our kids could ever hope for! Mary Carol is our adopted treasure. She is three going on twenty. Turner is 2 and is a wonderful young boy…emphasis on “boy!” We hope to uplift you by our posts and pictures. Enjoy!

Friday Links Roundup: Is This September? Edition
We have had a fairly mild summer. We had a handful of hot days in late June, but even those weren’t bad. But THIS is amazing! For Nashville in mid-July, we are expecting temperatures in at least the 90s. But today’s high? 85. Tomorrow? 79. Sunday? about 77! Wow, is this a great break in the middle of the summer. I’m hoping that this wonderful weather will help more folks get out on Sunday to worship God. There’s no better way to enjoy beautiful weather than giving thanks to the One who provides it! On to the links for this week: 1. Jonathan Jones at Evidence of Things Unseen addresses…

Changes
For some time, “behind the scenes,” I’ve been considering not blogging any more. It does take time, but I greatly enjoy it, and many have told me it is helpful. As we have continued to do more things (iPreach, Twitter, thismoment slideshows, etc.), though, it has obviously gone to the back burner. So, we are making a few changes to the blog. First, there will no longer be a Lebanon Road Report posted on Mondays. We are making an e-newsletter for our congregation that fills that role, and it is sent via email. We currently send it to 99 email addresses for free, but starting September 2, we can send…

Friday Links Roundup: 4th and 5th Edition
We’re excited about the Fourth of July. Much of our family is coming for the weekend and we always enjoy time with family. It is also a great time to reflect on our nation and to thank God for what He has done for us in the past. He truly is good! On the fifth, I’m excited to be preaching a sermon entitled “July 5: YOUR Independence Day.” We are praying for someone to hear the truth and respond to the freedom that is only in Christ. Will you pray as well? On to the links for this week: 1. Yes, it’s shameless, but if you mention Lebanon Road, you’re…
