Friday Links Roundup: Amazing Opportunities Edition

This weekend provides a great number of opportunities for us. We are headed to Missouri this weekend and Leah and I will both be teaching classes at the Inspiration youth rally in Dexter. I’m excited about this, but it is the start of a very busy weekend.

On Sunday, we are having a Ministry Fair at Lebanon Road to encourage involvement. We have lots of folks working on this and we are truly excited. Our elders set involvement as the basis of one of our goals for 2010 before us, and this is step one in fulfilling that goal. Hopefully, we’ll post some pictures later.

Also on Sunday, we are going to have a special contribution at Lebanon Road. Every dollar above our weekly budget is going to Healing Hands International of Nashville, and will be earmarked for the relief effort in Haiti. I’m thankful that many of our members came to our elders with this idea and that our elders took their time to choose a wise way to handle this.

It’s a weekend of many opportunities, and I’m thankful for each one!

On to the links for this week:

1. Jeff Jenkins talks about an upcoming TV show, then gives us a great lesson from it in his post “The Marriage Ref.”

2. Every generation has sometime to give. Caley shares her thoughts on her generation in a wonderful post called “Generation Next.”

3. I’ll admit it: I’m a bit wordy (especially in my writing). Management Craft wrote an article that hit home with me entitled “Do You Talk Beyond the Point of Contribution?”

4. It’s no secret that I love my iPhone. I use it constantly! Michael Hite shares one of the great applications you can use on your iPhone or iPod Touch in his post “In Depth Bible Study in the Palm of Your Hand.”

5. One skill I have trouble with is writing material for classroom settings (handouts and such). Matt at Kingdom Living shares “10 Tips for Writing Small Group Lessons.”

6. Tuesday, I posted an article about my dad in the “pass the torch” series. John Dobbs, who started this idea, has devoted a page on his blog to all who have written in the series. See the list here.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend. If you are going to be in Dexter for the youth rally this weekend, we hope to see you there!

No matter where you are on Sunday, we hope you remember the Lord on His Day.
