Friday Links Roundup: Where the Passion Lies Edition

This is the 896th post in the history of Faughnblog. We are happy to have several posts that have 2, 3, or 4 comments. Our readers just aren’t “commenters,” I guess (although I wish that would change…hint, hint!!!).

I didn’t go through the list of all posts in the history of the blog, but the most comments I remember a post ever having was five…

…until I brought up the case for the Utah Utes winning the national title. So far, there have been seven comments (and 8 Facebook comments on it, too).

Now, we’ve posted articles on this blog dealing with abortion, controversial movies and TV shows, and Bible history, but none has have had the same number of comments as one about Utah football. I guess we know where the hearts of our readers are!

Seriously, we welcome comments on the blog. While the articles may not often explicitly ask for comments, even short “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” comments are always welcome. Even those help us know what those who read are thinking.

On to the links this week. They are varied widely in topic, but all are very good.

1. Wayne Jackson’s article on Christian Courier this week is actually something I have been looking at myself recently. Personally, I’m glad he wrote it, because he worded it better than I ever could! Take a moment to read and really think about his article “Calvinism and the Great Commission.”

2. Neal Pollard wrote an article in his “Daily Bread” emails this week that was republished on Forthright Magazine’s site. Read “Selective Skepticism.” Also, to subscribe (for free) to Daily Bread, click here and fill out the simple form. It is well worth your time.

3. We are enjoying sunshine in Nashville today, but it has rained much of the past few days. It often does that this time of year. Jeremiah Tatum makes a practical lesson out of the change brought about by these rains in his article “Sowing All Over Again.”

4. We don’t post many political articles on this blog. That is an area we basically avoid. However, on Albert Mohler’s blog this week, he posted an article that should cause us all who oppose abortion to think. Don’t necessarily focus on the names or the political parties in the article. Read for the implications and conclusions of the article “A Chilling Account and a Word of Warning.”

A special link this week to a new site. I am a Facebook fan (nut, fanatic…). Recently a new site came online that is a social networking site for members of the Lord’s church. It is a place to post pictures and videos, chat, and renew acquaintances with those of like precious faith. It is simple to use and quite a lot of fun. Check out http://www.saintsmeet.com/, and create a free profile…and add me as your friend!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. If you are around Nashville, stop by and see us at Lebanon Road.

No matter where you are, don’t forget the Lord on His day!
