Holy
Today’s post is brief, but I hope it causes you to think. It is something that has been on my heart for some time.
God is holy. We read that in Scripture. We preach that fact. We sometimes mention it in prayer. We even recognize it at times from the beauty that surrounds us.
But not only is God holy, so is His name.
I am amazed at how many who wear the name of Christ will not “directly” take God’s name vainly, but will sprinkle their language and their writing with euphemistic terms intended to “soften” the name of God. Christians continue to use “gosh” (I even heard a preacher use this recently in a sermon!), “golly,” “O my Lord,” “lord,” “lordy,” and (of course) we type “omg.” [NOTE: Please know that I do not use these terms, but I am sharing them here to point out some that I hear used over and over by Christians of all ages.]
God’s name is holy. We need to take every usage of it seriously. We dare not think of approaching His name lightly.
This is not some “slippery-slope” argument. When we begin to use euphemisms for God’s name, we have already slipped, because we have lost respect and honor for the holy name of God.
Christians, let’s get that reverence back. God is worthy of our best, and that includes how we treat His holy and awesome name.

A great reminder. Thanks for sharing this post. We all need to remember that God is holy and so is His name.
