The Blame Game: From Adam and Eve to Britney Spears
Since the first sin, man has searched for an excuse. You’ll recall that Eve blamed the serpent and Adam blamed the woman…and God! When people make a mistake, whether it is a sin or not, they simply do not want to take responsibility for their actions.
The latest in the blame game is Mrs. Kevin Federline…Britney Spears. You might recall the incident a few months ago where she was seen driving around with her little 8-month old child on her lap. While I was shocked, it is a mistake that has been made before. Why not just own up to it?
Nope. Britney took the same approach that Adam and Eve did. She started passing the blame:
I did it with my dad. I’d sit on his lap and I’d drive. We’re country.
So, her mistake is her father’s…no…Louisiana culture’s fault?
And, later, she said it was the fault of the photographers. They are everywhere and she just wanted to hurry up and get where she was going.
Notice that I am not trying to smear Britney Spears. She made a mistake. Yes it was a dangerous one, but it was simply a mistake. My problem was that she would not just admit it and move on.
How many times do we do the same? Let’s be willing to admit our mistakes. If it is a sin, let’s confess it, learn from it and move on. Let’s stop the blame game!
