Guest Post: “Churches and Pinterest” (by Joey Sparks)
NOTE FROM ADAM: I am new to the world of Pinterest, but I see great potential on this site for good. My friend Joey Sparks is one who uses this site a lot of ministry purposes. I asked him to write a guest post about how congregations can use this site, and he did a tremendous job. With the explosion of new users and time spent on Pinterest [infographic], I felt this was an appropriate topic to tackle on our site. Thanks, Joey, for doing a great job! ————————————- Pinterest is a relatively new peg-board-inspired social media platform who’s membership exploded at the beginning of 2012. The “viral” aspect of new members…

Memorial Day 2012
Just wanted to say “thank you” to the men and women who have given their lives so that I might enjoy this day with my family. Your sacrifice is not forgotten.

Yesterday was our last day of homeschool for the 2011-2012 school year. For memory’s sake, I decided to interview our two students and their lovely teacher. Enjoy!

Encouraging “Middle-of-the-Road” Preachers
NOTE: Today on iPreach, Dale Jenkins and I kicked off the iPreach Summer Series with some words of encouragement for preachers of different ages. I spoke on encouraging preachers who are no longer young, but who aren’t quite “old sages” yet, either. As usual, I typed out my lesson, and I thought you might enjoy it. If you’d rather listen to the program, click here. ———————————— I am 34 years old. To some listening to this, that’s just getting started. To others, that’s a few years away. There is something about this age, though, where a change in ministry seems to happen. You realize you aren’t really young anymore, but…

The May 2012 Roundup : 10 Links, 2 Videos, 1 Youth Minister in a Hoodie
What a wonderful month May has been, and it isn’t quite over yet! Today, our kids finish their first year of homeschool, and they have done great. Of course, they have a wonderful teacher, but you already knew that!!! This weekend, we are looking forward to having the Chorale from Freed-Hardeman University with us at Lebanon Road. They’ll be singing for us after lunch on Sunday as they conclude a summer tour. If you are in the Nashville area, come and worship with us and stay for lunch and what promises to be a great concert. Okay, on to the links for May. Here are the first 5. 1. Need…

This and That
I don’t do these posts often, but I have several short notes that I want to pass along, so we’ll do a “this and that” post. Time to empty the “quick blog news posts” idea folder! Enjoy!!! ***Last night, the #Hashtag Youth Series got underway. If you are not familiar with this amazing work for young people, you will want to be. It grew from an idea to over 4000 young people in less than 6 months. Here are three resources to follow to see more about it: (1) the website, (2) the Facebook group, (3) a recent iPreach where we interviewed two of the “principles” of this. ***Speaking of…

I Need to Pray Like My Daughter
I would like to say that I pray every night with Turner, but I miss some nights here and there. The effort is there, but sometimes I still fail. His prayers are what you might expect from a little boy. They are short and are for those things he is thinking of right then. Every so often, he throws a wonderfully heart-felt request into the prayer, and I try to really cover him with praise for those. Over the last few days, though, I have had the privilege of praying with Mary Carol two nights. If you know her at all, you know she is all heart. I have never…

Can’t See Past Today?
Do you ever feel frustrated? Do you ever feel like you know there are certain things you would love to be doing, but you just can’t get to it? Often the everyday, the menial, and the ordinary takes so much of our time that we fail to get to our dreams, our visions, or even just our long-term goals. Homemakers struggle with this so much, because they are raising little children who require so much time and energy. Then there is the laundry, the grocery run, cooking meals, cleaning the house, and so on. It never truly seems to end, and all of it seems to be just “regular” stuff.…
