Danger in Plain Sight

A couple in Australia recently got a Christmas surprise that they probably do not want to get again. They came home and noticed that some birds on their outdoor balcony were acting very strangely. In fact, the birds were acting so bizarre that one of the people decided to get some footage of the birds.

As the video was being shot, they figured out why the birds were acting so weird. The other person was near the Christmas tree and saw something that was not exactly supposed to be there. In among the lights and ornaments, there was a 10-foot python!

Amazingly, they left the winstrol australia snake alone and it left on its own just a short time later.

But what if they had not seen the snake sooner and had done something to agitate it? How horrible and frightening could it have been for them?

The main thought, however, is this: here was a danger that was basically hidden in plain sight. The Christmas tree was at a focal point in the room, yet the appearance of the huge snake took awhile to figure out.

Satan–the serpent of old (Revelation 20:2)–often works just like that. Quite often, he tempts us with dangerous things that are just subtle enough that we miss their real danger. We know they are wrong, but we just don’t really think about it at the moment. We see the “big” problems, but we do not take the time nor make the effort to think through the more subtle temptations he places right before us all the time.

For example, we all know that fornication is wrong. But do we really think about how Satan signals to us that it is okay through the way it is glorified and romanticized in the TV shows we watch and songs we listen to? There is a subtle danger that is right in plain sight, but we rarely take the time to really take it seriously.

And, unlike that snake in Australia, these dangers will not go away on their own. We cannot leave them alone! We must make the effort to remove every temptation our enemy puts before us.

“If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.” (Matthew 5:29)
