Friday Links Roundup: FPU Edition

If you’ve read this blog often at all, you know that Leah and I are big fans of Dave Ramsey’s “Baby Steps.” We are using those steps and a lot of prayer to do things God’s way with money.

Sunday, we will begin teaching a Financial Peace University class here at Lebanon Road. About 15 members are involved, and we hope to do this every few months for other members. Please pray that this class will help many learn how to handle money God’s way!

On to the links for this week.

1. Today is September 11, and many are taking a few moments to reflect on the events of 9/11/01. To help with  your reflection, view this picture from Wikipedia’s “Picture of the Day.”

2. The UK newspaper, The Telegraph, published a list that would make an interesting devotional idea. Read “50 Things That are Being Killed by the Internet.”

3. Reading about the Old Testament kings is frustrating, considering the ability of these men. Justin Gerhardt writes of one of the most frustrating in a very thought-provoking article, “What Might Have Been.”

4. One of the most heart-wrenching areas to discuss is divorce and remarriage. Wayne Jackson writes about some of those very difficult decisions in an obviously heart-felt article: “Divorce and Remarriage: White, Black, or Gray?”

5. While I don’t agree with the “pastor system” that is mentioned in Thom Rainer’s article, the list he gives overall is very important. Read and learn from “Five Warning Signs of Declining Church Health.”

6. Trey Morgan blogs often about marriage and family issues. He gave a very important reminder this week in his post “No Secrets in Marriage.”

7. Finally, Jeff Jenkins (welcome to the world of blogging) says something that many of us fear. We love “quick fixes,” but those can’t always happen. Enjoy his article “Life’s Answers in Three Minutes.”

We hope you have a wonderful weekend. The leaves are just beginning to change here, and that reminds us that God is in control! Make sure you worship the One Who is in control on His day.
