Friday Links Roundup: Milestone Edition

As I start this post, we are just a few minutes away from a milestone. iPreach, the podcast that I co-host with Dale Jenkins, is getting ready to be recorded. While all the episodes are fun, this one will be very special, because it is our 100th program! When we first started, we honestly had no idea how many we would do (we weren’t sure, with all the technical snafus, we’d get through the first one!). Today, we record our 100th program. All have been a joy.

We have no way of knowing an exact number of listeners, but we do know that around 200 folks download just from the talkshoe website each week. If about that number download from iTunes (which is very possible), then each program reaching around 400 people. We are quite confident that each reaches more than 300 preachers, youth leaders, elders and members.

Dale and I honestly do not know how many long iPreach will continue to be around, but we enjoy recording these. We are told quite often that the podcast is a help, and that’s why we do it. We hope many are encouraged as they seek to preach God’s Word, and it is humbling to me to have a small part in helping them do that.

If you’ve never listened before, make sure you download our 100th program. It will be a lot of fun. You can get it (after about noon Central time) from the talkshoe website here, or from iTunes.

On to the links for this week:

1. One thing elders need to encourage within any congregation is interaction among different age groups. It is especially true that older members need to help younger members. Jeff Jenkins helps us focus on this aspect of church life in his post “Everybody Needs a Big Brother.”

2. Following God’s commandments is essential, but doing so with the proper heart is also essential. Neal Pollard helps us see this in a great way in “The Halakhah, The Haggadah, and The Heart.”

3. Finally, a fun financial post. I like playing Monopoly, but I don’t get to play often (I don’t have the patience for it, usually). Christian Personal Finance did a great post on real-life money by applying winning Monopoly strategies. Enjoy “How to Win at Monopoly & How to Win in Real Life.”

We are set to begin our Vacation Bible School at Lebanon Road on Sunday. I hope to post a few pictures next week from that, but I won’t send out emails each time I do. Make sure you check back often for those. If you’re near Nashville, we hope you’ll come and be with us!

No matter where you are, don’t forget the Lord on His Day.
