Seven Good Things Week : iPreach

Welcome to “Seven Good Things Week.” This is the final post this week, and I am tremendously grateful for your interaction with the posts. We hope all the “things” we have shared this week have encouraged you. Today, we share something that’s been around awhile, but continues to grow.

Almost exactly 6 years ago, Dale Jenkins and I got together with the idea of starting a podcast designed to help preachers. I had thought about starting a personal podcast, and Dale had had the idea before of a ministry podcast. We put our ideas together, and iPreach was born. Though the first few episodes were very rough, a few people listened and encouraged us to keep going.

Then, we got the technology side figured out…

…and, wow, did iPreach grow!

Today, we continue to produce the podcast almost every week (we usually miss about 5-6 weeks each year), and continue to provide content that is primarily designed to help preachers, although quite a few of our listeners are not preachers. We do not pay for analytics, but we are certain that more than 300 people listen to every episode, and we are fairly sure that number is closer to 500.

The program has changed format a few times. Currently, we are starting a system (it started this month, in fact) where we simply take one topic for the entire month and let various ministers come on and give their advice. In September, we are discussing time management. We plan on trying this format for several months, so we can dig a little deeper into topics than we have before.

From the start, iPreach was designed to be both helpful and entertaining. Dale is one of the most well-known preachers in the brotherhood, and because of his connections, we have brought in guests from all over the country (and even a couple of international guests). We have never kept records, but we estimate that about 150 different people have been guests on the program. They run the gamut from college students to seasoned ministers, from counselors to authors, and from tech geeks to guys who we are surprised know how to dial a cell phone! If they have something to teach that will help ministers, we want to hear from them and let them share their knowledge with our listeners.

iPreach is still going strong, and Dale and I are grateful to God for the opportunity to continue to provide this content after all this time. If you have never listened to an episode, or maybe haven’t checked out the program in some time, see what’s going on. You can find the show on iTunes here, or through rss here.
