Seven Good Things Week : Tanzanian Missions with the Gaines Family

Good Things Week promo

Welcome to “Seven Good Things Week,” where we want to share with you one encouraging work each day that we are blessed to know about and be part of. We begin the week with a mission work getting ready to start that will greatly encourage you.

We have been blessed to know Daniel and Tiffany Gaines since our days together at Freed-Hardeman. This family is as faithful to the work of the Lord as anyone you will ever find. We are honored to call them friends, but they are about to be very long-distance friends.

In a matter of just a few weeks, their family will begin a three-year missionary tour in the African nation of Tanzania. This work, under the oversight of the Lehman Avenue Church of Christ in Bowling Green, Kentucky has been planned for a long time, and is a dream of this family’s that is about to come to fruition.

One of the best things the Gaines family has done in preparing for this trip is to provide loads of information. They started a blog and have sent out a monthly newsletter, too (if you subscribe to the blog, you’ll get the newsletter there). Even if you choose not to help their mission effort, I recommend you following their correspondence, so you can know how to pray for their efforts.

We firmly believe in the faithfulness of this family, and their steadfastness to this effort. We are praying for them as they prepare to leave in a few weeks. While we do not get to see them often, we will miss them while they are across the ocean, but we know Daniel, Tiffany, and the kids will be promoting the cause of Christ in a grand way.

Our Challenge To You: We have given a small amount before as a one-time donation to help the Gaines family get ready to leave. Today, we are challenging our readers to do the same. Last evening, we made another one-time donation, this time of $25, to help the family get ready to head to Africa. We do not tell you that to brag, but to issue this challenge: We are challenging at least 10 of our readers to donate $25 today! Instead of going out to eat after services tonight, take that money and put it in the work of the Kingdom. If you have a PayPal account, go right here and donate $25. What a blessing to this family if they got this much help right before going to Tanzania.

Elders, we firmly believe in this work. Even if you do not have a large missions budget, the Gaines family is very close to having their total needed support. The last time I talked with Daniel (a couple of weeks ago), they were only about $600 per month short of having their total support. Why not help them make up that difference with just $100-$200 each month? It will be a true investment in the Kingdom.

We hope you will consider helping this good work financially, but even if you choose not to, please remember our friends in your prayers.

Tomorrow, we will share an e-commentary you will want to consider adding to your virtual library.
