Wednesday List: My Current iPhone Apps

    March 23, 2011 /

I like technology, but I’ll admit that I have no idea how any of it works. I learn a few simple (and I mean simple) steps, and let them help me. While I try out several technologies, I spend very little money, and keep only what helps me. For our list this week, I’m listing the apps I use on my iPhone. PAGE ONE PingChat. I don’t use this app as much as I used to (and I’ll explain why later). This is a text messaging program. If someone else has PingChat, you add them as a contact and the “texts” (called “pings”) are free. I don’t pay for unlimited…

5 Inexpensive Ways to Promote Events

    February 23, 2011 /

Nearly every congregation has “special” events (as if Sunday worship isn’t special!). At Lebanon Road, we have a Vacation Bible School each summer, and we are holding a Gospel Meeting in late September. One of the challenges that a congregation gives is to invite friends and neighbors to these events. That’s a great challenge, but do we help? We need to give congregations the tools to promote events. Most congregations make flyers to hang in stores or to canvas certain neighborhoods with. Those are fine, but they must be well done. If you do a poor job with advertising, you are hurting your results instead of helping. So, here some…

    Should Your Congregation Use Twitter?

    October 12, 2010 /

Here is a brief e-book I recently wrote about Twitter. It addresses (1) some Twitter basics, (2) some questions to ask to see if your congregation should use this tool or not, and (3) some tips if you decide to use it. Enjoy… …and, and if you on Twitter, make sure you follow us (@faughn4)!!! Using Twitter Effectively as a Congregation

Friday Links Roundup: Christmas Zzzz Edition

    December 18, 2009 /

I say it all the time: Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I like Christmas, but it’s only the 18th, and I’m already tired. I’m tired from shopping and standing in line. I’ve already heard “Feliz Navidad” twice (which is twice too often for this horrible tune). The “Christmas season” just lasts too long. When I’m President, we’ll cut it down to two weeks….tops! Now, that whole line about a “long winter’s nap?” Where is that in all this? It sure sounds tempting! On to the links for this week: 1. Many wonder if Christians should celebrate Christmas in any form or fashion. Cindy Colley does a good job answering that question…

Guest Post: The Church and Technology

    September 10, 2009 /

[Today’s post is the 2nd in our series entitled “The Church and…”. The writer today is my friend Dale Jenkins. Dale preaches for the Spring Meadows church of Christ in Spring Hill, Tennessee. He wears many hats, including cohosting iPreach the podcast with me. It is a joy to work with Dale in this way. Make sure you check out his “Blog that Binds” here.] “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Colossians 3:17). Somewhere between 1436 and 1450 Gutenburg is credited as having invented the printing press (wonder how many people…
