A Three-Step Process To Ruin
A while ago, I wrote about a man who has a podcast that I listen to on a fairly regular basis. It has been a while since he discussed the subject that I’m thinking about today. I cannot remember exactly when it was, but I know that I was so intrigued at the time that I read the transcript of that particular podcast and made a few notes.
In his podcast and manuscript, he refers to a man by the name of Theo Hobson and describes him as “…a major British theologian and public intellectual…”. From what little I’ve learned about Dr. Hobson, I would probably not agree with him on what I consider to be some fundamental doctrinal positions.
You may remember that, in an earlier post, I said much of the same thing about the man whose podcast I listen to. You may also remember from what I posted then and from some of my other posts that I think it is healthy to consider the opinions of others. In fact, I think that it is very dangerous to communicate only with those with whom I already agree.
With all of that being said, the following is written about the opinion of Dr. Hobson as it was discussed on the podcast. I could not possibly agree more with his position on this.
What Dr. Hobson has written about deals with what he calls “a total moral reversal.” The speaker on the podcast referred to it as “a moral revolution.” I believe that it could also be simply called “ruin.”
Sadly, I believe that we are seeing the ruin of every aspect of our society happening “right before our eyes.” Not only are we seeing it, I believe that we are seeing it promoted by governmental action (or inaction), the entertainment industry, many in the educational establishment, peer pressure (including outright intimidation), and in many, many other ways.
Before I present Dr. Hobsons three steps, I need to say that, as much as I would like to comment on each one, I will refrain from doing so. I would like for you to do your own thinking. I would also like for you to consider whether or not you agree with me that this is happening and that it may be later than we think!
As you read and think about these steps, please keep in the back of your mind a couple of things:
- Compare what is taught in God’s Word with what is practiced, promoted, and/or defended by an increasing number of people now.
- Compare what our society used to be like with what it is becoming (or has already become).
Without any further comment from me, here are the three steps.
Step 1: What was condemned must be celebrated.
Step 2: What was celebrated must now be condemned.
Step 3: Those who will not join in the celebration will be condemned.
