Equip Network Week Post #3: The New Shows

This week, we are sharing information about the newly formed Equip Network, which is a family of podcasts, all done by members of the churches of Christ. On Monday, we shared a brief history, which you can read here. Yesterday, we took a look at the three “flagship” programs, which you can read about here.

Today, we want to share the remaining programs with you to which you can currently subscribe. Enjoy these 3 shows!

Equipped Today (hosted by a different speaker each week)

This is a wonderful addition to The Equip Network (TEN). Equipped Today is a brief daily devotional, designed to get your day started off on the right foot. Each week, a different speaker will give you encouraging and Biblical information. Speakers so far have been Jeff Jenkins, Dale Jenkins, and Joe Wells. Brother Glenn Colley is the speaker this week, and many others are already lined up for weeks to come.

Besides the uplifting and Biblical content, the best part about this podcast is that it is just 3-5 minutes each day! It is meant to contain a devotional thought that you can use to get you going–or to keep you going–as you face life each day.

Equipped Today can be found on iTunes, or you can check out the page devoted to this show (and listen to all past episodes) on the TEN website by clicking here.

LiveNow.Teen (host: J.D. Schwartz)

This podcast is very similar to Equipped Today, but the major difference is that J.D. Schwartz records these programs with teenagers in mind. Each program contains a very helpful devotional thought for teens to take with them as they face the world.

Jon David does a great job with these devotionals, and, much like Equipped Today, keeps them brief, with each program being about 4 minutes in length. Teenagers (and adults like me, too!) will find these programs, which come out 5 days each week, to be helpful and encouraging.

I would encourage every teen to subscribe to this podcast. You adults might want to hear these programs as well. I know I enjoy them each day!

You can subscribe via iTunes, or check out the page on the TEN website (which includes all past episodes) by clicking here.

The Hey Joe Show (host: Joe Wells)

Joe Wells hosts this weekly podcast for teenagers, and it is already seeing significant growth, despite only being three episodes old! Joe records this program on Sunday nights at 9PM Central time, and does so with a live chatroom on talkshoe.com.

What sets The Hey Joe Show apart from other programs is that he invites teenagers to call, text, email, or Facebook him questions during the show. So far, most of the questions (as you can imagine, being a show for teens) have come via text message.

Joe Wells, who serves as the editor of Kaio Magazine from Focus Press, has an approach on the show that lives up to the show’s purpose: “straight talk for teens.” Joe will always address difficult subjects, but will do so in a clear and Biblical way. I greatly enjoy hearing Joe speak, so this is a wonderful opportunity to hear him on a weekly basis.

Tomorrow, we will wrap up this series of posts by peaking behind the curtain a little bit. We will give you some idea of the “big picture” of The Equip Network, and also let you know of some ideas for other shows that are coming soon.
