Equip Network Week Post #2: The Three Flagship Shows

Yesterday, we shared the history and basis of The Equip Network. You can read that article here.

Today, our goal is to let you know about the three shows that were around before the network started, and that are considered the “flagship” programs.

iPreach (hosts: Dale Jenkins and Adam Faughn)

iPreach, as we mentioned yesterday, has been around longer than any other program on The Equip Network (TEN). With over 110 programs, brother Dale Jenkins and I have covered many different topics, and have had our share of growing pains with the technology.

The purpose of iPreach is to “aid, enlighten, inform, and entertain” preachers. Each week, strive to do that with helpful information that is given by us, as well as by our many guests. With our 2nd show, we had our first guests, and less than 15 of our programs have gone “guest-less,” meaning we have assembled a long list of those who have appeared with us. Multiple appearances have been made by several, including Jerrie Barber, David Shannon, Jim Faughn, and Jay Lockhart.

Our program records nearly every Friday at 10AM Central, and is usually 30-40 minutes in length. We sometimes go longer when we have a “round table” with several guests. We now estimate our listening audience to be well over 300 per episode.

You can access iPreach on iTunes. Also, you can see our homepage on talkshoe.com by clicking here. We have a live chat that goes on during the recording, and you are welcome to be part of that, as well, on the talkshoe page.

Engage! Where Christ and Culture Meet (hosts: Caleb O’Hara, Wesley Walker & Joe Wells)

Engage! is also a weekly program, and the focus of this show is to help Christians answer “hot button” issues that face us daily. One of the aspects of Engage! that has made it popular is that the hosts are not afraid to tackle some very difficult topics, such as homosexuality or illegal immigration. Caleb, Wesley and Joe do their best to give Biblical teaching each week.

Engage! also utilizes talkshoe.com to record their program, which usually lasts around 45 minutes.  They record on Tuesdays at 10AM Central, and also have a chat available during recording.

If you enjoy studying current issues with a Biblical basis, you will want to subscribe to Engage! via iTunes or from the Equip Network site.

MinistryGeek This Week (hosts: Michael Hite, Caleb O’Hara and Dale Jenkins)

The “Geek” (Michael Hite) and his two sidekicks (Caleb and Dale) give advice each week on how to use modern technology in ministry through this weekly podcast.

Michael is a teacher at Bear Valley Bible Institute in Denver, Colorado. Among his teaching responsibilities is a class on technology in ministry. This podcast is a great way to share the knowledge that these students learn, but in a talk-shoe style program.

As one who loves technology (but has no idea how it works), I have found MinistryGeek to be a great help. The hosts are able to share practical information in a way that is easy to understand for most people. Subjects discussed so far in the history of this program have included PowerPoint, church websites, and Bible software. Usually, a topic is discussed for a minimum of two weeks (one show each week).

MinistryGeek usually lasts between 60 and 70 minutes each week, and the guys record at 10AM Central on Wednesday. You can subscribe to the podcast via iTunes, or check out the website here.

From these three programs, others have “sprung up” and joined TEN. Tomorrow, we’ll tell you about those.
