Legacy Recipe: Skroodle Salad
“In the good ole summertime” the heat can get us down. The thought of cooking a large meal sounds like torture, but this salad recipe I’m sharing today is so good and filling. I’ve had it for years but it first appeared in the Metropolis Planet, my hometown newspaper. A woman named Linda Adam won a recipe contest with this recipe! Off They Went

It’s Not about the Pizza
Recently, I was listening to a discussion among some men on the radio about a pizza restaurant they had visited. During the discussion they mentioned the fact that, when they walked into the restaurant, there was a sign that welcomed them (and others) to the restaurant that had been recognized for ten years in a row as the cleanest restaurant in that particular chain of restaurants. The curiosity of one of those men caused him to ask an employee what they did in order to earn that distinction. God’s People are a Wonder
Last week, I was blessed to be part of Horizons at Freed-Hardeman University. If you know me well at all, you know that FHU is one of my happiest places on earth (along with anywhere my family is and the beach). Horizons is built to be similar to a summer camp, but allows teens to pick elective classes as well as attend theme classes, devotionals, evening worship, singings, and help with service projects, all while getting a small taste of what it’s like to live in a dorm room and eat at a dining hall. I’ve read it on social media more times than I can count. I have had people introduce themselves to me using it. I am not sure when this will be posted, but I believe that it will be relevant regardless of when that happens. At least I hope that is the case. June 24th Was a Victory, But the Battle Has Not Been Won
June 24, 2022 will go down in history as the day that the Supreme Court of the United States overturned the Roe v Wade decision concerning abortion. The rights were turned back over to the individual states to make their own laws concerning this heinous act of abortion. It was a victory for those of us who are pro-life and believe in the sanctity of life which begins at conception. I was overjoyed with the decision, as were so many other people who live in states that had “trigger” laws already in place. A Random Thought about VBS vs. Bible School
At Central, VBS is in the books, but we are right in the middle of VBS season. I know a lot of congregations that have their Vacation Bible School in July, and some even have it in early August. With all these going on, I wanted to share something that has been on my mind for many years about VBS and how it compares with our “regular” Bible school programs.
