Wednesday List: My Current iPhone Apps
I like technology, but I’ll admit that I have no idea how any of it works. I learn a few simple (and I mean simple) steps, and let them help me. While I try out several technologies, I spend very little money, and keep only what helps me. For our list this week, I’m listing the apps I use on my iPhone. PAGE ONE PingChat. I don’t use this app as much as I used to (and I’ll explain why later). This is a text messaging program. If someone else has PingChat, you add them as a contact and the “texts” (called “pings”) are free. I don’t pay for unlimited…

Quick Blog Update
Two quick updates to our blog, just to keep you informed. First, at the top of the page, there is a box called “Where We’ll Be.” This link lists all of our speaking and song leading engagements for 2011. Today, I updated it, so click on it and see where we’ll be! Also, we have brought the Google ads back. I don’t like to leave these up on our blog all the time, but our site is not free to run, and the few times you are willing to click on the ads help us to simply “offset” the cost of hosting the blog. Please help us out that way,…

A Trend I Like to See
Today’s post is very brief, but, hopefully, is a post that will encourage you. I have noticed something more and more lately. Maybe it has been going on for a long time, but I have “keyed in” on it more in the past few weeks. It is a trend on Facebook, and it is seen in the status updates among those who are my “Facebook friends.” Usually, these updates deal with what a person is doing at the time (“So-and-so is walking the dog;” “So-and-so is enjoying a day with family;” and so on). That’s fine, and we all do that every so often. However, I am thankful that I…

Should Your Congregation Use Twitter?
Here is a brief e-book I recently wrote about Twitter. It addresses (1) some Twitter basics, (2) some questions to ask to see if your congregation should use this tool or not, and (3) some tips if you decide to use it. Enjoy… …and, and if you on Twitter, make sure you follow us (@faughn4)!!! Using Twitter Effectively as a Congregation

Equip Network Week Post #4: What Does the Future Hold?
This week, we have taken the time to share The Equip Network (TEN) with you. On Tuesday, we looked at the brief but amazing history of this family of podcasts. On Wednesday, we shared the three “flagship” programs with you. Thursday, we told you about the other three programs that have been available from the time of the launch. But what does the future hold? Will it be just these six programs? Absolutely not! There has already been an amazing number of listeners to the six programs, but there has also been a significant number of show ideas submitted. While not every one of these will eventually become a podcast,…

Equip Network Week Post #3: The New Shows
This week, we are sharing information about the newly formed Equip Network, which is a family of podcasts, all done by members of the churches of Christ. On Monday, we shared a brief history, which you can read here. Yesterday, we took a look at the three “flagship” programs, which you can read about here. Today, we want to share the remaining programs with you to which you can currently subscribe. Enjoy these 3 shows! ————————————————————————– Equipped Today (hosted by a different speaker each week) This is a wonderful addition to The Equip Network (TEN). Equipped Today is a brief daily devotional, designed to get your day started off on…

Equip Network Week Post #2: The Three Flagship Shows
Yesterday, we shared the history and basis of The Equip Network. You can read that article here. Today, our goal is to let you know about the three shows that were around before the network started, and that are considered the “flagship” programs. ————————————— iPreach (hosts: Dale Jenkins and Adam Faughn) iPreach, as we mentioned yesterday, has been around longer than any other program on The Equip Network (TEN). With over 110 programs, brother Dale Jenkins and I have covered many different topics, and have had our share of growing pains with the technology. The purpose of iPreach is to “aid, enlighten, inform, and entertain” preachers. Each week, strive to…

Equip Network Week Post #1: What Is This Thing?
As many of you know, I am a cohost on a weekly podcast called iPreach. Dale Jenkins and I started recording this podcast about 2 years ago, and we have now done over 110 episodes. Each week, we try to live up to the purpose of our show which is “to aid, enlighten, inform, and entertain preachers.” When Dale and I started iPreach, to be honest, we had no idea how long we would keep the program going. While we had a few “fuzzy” long range goals, we did not really know if anyone would listen consistently. All we knew was that we liked podcasts, and thought that we could…

Sermon Transcript: “The Christian and Facebook”
On Sunday night, I preached a sermon entitled “The Christian and Facebook.” Later, I posted something about it on (of course) Facebook, and several said they would like to see the notes. Before you read the transcript, let me share this information with you. Some time ago, my friend Neal Pollard preached a sermon at Bear Valley in Denver on this topic. I listened to his sermon several weeks ago to start getting ideas for mine. Later, he turned that sermon into an article for the Gospel Advocate that I also read. I say that to say this: several similarities exist between this sermon and his sermon/article, though I did…

2010 Camp Video
Each year after we return from camp, we have an awards night following our Sunday evening worship service. We hand out our awards for best boy and girl campers, best Bible students (boy and girl), camper’s choice award, and our sports awards. We are also treated to a wonderful video that features so many pictures from camp. For the past two years, Mike Markwood has put this video together, and always does a tremendous job! The video is below in two parts, and I hope you will enjoy some memories from Valley View Camp 2010: “Wii Believe.” Part 1. Length: 18:40 LRCOC BIBLE CAMP 2010 VOLUME 1 from Mike Markwood…
