How Sinful Entertainment Influences Us
Often, I mention entertainment in sermons. I love to be entertained, and there are several outlets I enjoy to unwind, get a laugh, or even shed a (very manly) tear. But I am very concerned with how Christians so often, very mindlessly, allow themselves to watch anything in the name of entertainment. Shows that, just a handful of years ago would not have even been allowed on television, are now common fodder for Christian consumption. Songs that are filled with the most vile words and concepts fill the iPods of countless Christians. Movies that are built openly sinful characters and themes are favorites of so many who then sing “Take…

“This Week at Lebanon Road” — Get Ready to Laugh!
JD and I continue to record our weekly “news and devotional” videos, and are having a blast doing so. I wanted to share this week’s video because we consider a subject that isn’t often discussed: a Biblical view of laughter. Enjoy!

Tech Tip: Remembering Kindle Highlights
I love my Kindle! I read from it almost daily, and probably read about 50%-60% of the books I read from cover-to-cover on it. As I read, though, I like to make some highlights. However…what do you do with those highlights once they are done? I have struggled with that for quite some time, but here is what I am starting to do now. I hope it is helpful to you if you have struggled with this, too. STEP ONE: Finding the Highlights Amazon does a great thing in putting all your Kindle highlights in one place, but they make it a bit difficult to find. The best thing to…

“This Week at Lebanon Road” [Video]
For some time, we have wanted to use the Lebanon Road website–which is great!–in new ways. Today, JD Buckner and I recorded the first weekly video called “This Week at Lebanon Road.” We will not publish all of these on our blog, but we wanted you to know about it, so we are going to put this one here. If you would like to follow these videos, you can go back to the Lebanon Road site each week, or subscribe the YouTube channel. Enjoy!

MailChimp and Ministry
Last Friday, we posted about blogging for beginners, and we got quite a bit of positive feedback. In that post, we listed several resources that bloggers should at least consider. One of those resources was MailChimp. Today, we want to talk about this resource, but for more than just blogging. I really think there are several ministry-related uses for this resource. First, though, what is MailChimp? To state it simply, MailChimp is an email client. It helps you create custom emails that are very pleasing on the eye. Further, MailChimp lets you build lists, so you don’t have to manage who gets the emails and who doesn’t. People opt in…

Before You Blog: A Post for Tech Newbies
It is hard to believe how long I have been blogging. We are around 7 years now, and some of you have been with us since the start. Though our blog is still small in the blogging world, we have seen some growth (especially in the last few months), and we are thankful. Whether we grow very much or not, though, we are planning on being around for awhile, because we love doing this. One reason I love the internet is because Christians can “flood the market.” It is so inexpensive to get good, helpful, Biblical content out there for people to see. From blogging to podcasting; from YouTube to…

Evangelism, Kaio, and Tumblr
Every few weeks, we post several updates in one post. We hope you’ll take a look at each one of these, as we find them to be very exciting! Evangelism for Today First, we want you to know about “Evangelism for Today,” which will be held at Lebanon Road on Saturday, January 26 and Sunday, January 27. This is a free seminar that we have been planning for quite a long time. Our subtitle is “Tips and Techniques for the 21st Century.” We have assembled a great line-up of speakers and we are expecting a great turnout. In the January Gospel Advocate, we ran a half-page ad, and we are also putting…

Thank You for 2012
What a year it has been. As I write this, it’s early in the morning on New Year’s Eve, 2012. I have been looking back at our year, and it has been one that we will not soon forget. Recently, I posted about turning 35 and about how it was a truly emotional year. So I want this final post of the year to be something a little different. I want it to be a “thank you”….to you. 2012 has easily been the most successful year of our blog, and that would not be true without the time you take to read what we post. So, enjoy our little “blog…
